How long do you guys think the camp will stay open?  I am surprised that Deborah actually followed through on it and it is in session.  I do not think that it is a success even if they are not accepting new campers.  And I don't think that there will be a television series about it.  They could not get press on the camp except a few excerpts here and there and similar shows have been made.  They pretty much failed.  Last, but not least, I think that kids today have parents Deborah's age, and most people, I think, around Deborah's age despise her and would not want to send their kids to a camp associated with her.  I expect some letter or something from Deborah that says that she had a blast, the camp was succcessful, and she loved it, but she wants to move on to "insert some lame event here."  I give the camp maybe another year with her.  She could sell it, but who would buy a camp from her.  Just start your own.

She's going to do it again next year and people are already signing up for it.  If it wasn't a success then it wouldn't be back next year.  We know what it takes to get attention these days; DUI's, losing custody of your kids, public intoxication, drug problems, etc.  Of course the press isn't going to give the same level of attention to something positive.  They want scandal and there are plenty of screwed up young attention whores with no talent that are more than willing to give it to them.  She has received press from this but if it's something positive it will never get the attention of the fawning and enabling tabloid press that loves negative stories so much that they are willing to invent them when they can't find them.  If that's what you have to do to have success now then I'm glad Deborah isn't "successful."

If you don't think the camp is a success, would it be because it isn't reaching your very own expectations? What kid, you expected the camp to bring her back to the top of the charts? Do you even have an idea of what the camp objectives were? If you do, I'm sure it'd be fun for all of us to read why you think the camp isn't successful !!!

Also, you're the one that always come back with that annoying idea that Deborah is old enough to be the mother of a teenager ... I'm Deborah's age and I don't have kids ... Is there something wrong with me doctor?

If you don't have nothing interesting to write, you shouldn't touch your keyboard ...

when have I said Deborah is old enough to have a teenager?  you are confussing me with someone else.  i'm older than Deborah and I do not have kids.  I probably never will.

The camp is successful because it will help the kids who are there.  It is not successful as a business.

Ok so I'm trashing someone else, so here you go someone else lol !

"The camp is successful because it will help the kids who are there.  It is not successful as a business"

There you go, that's what it was made for. So it's a great success story, something inspiring for kids in the LA area. Something we don't even have where I live. Now as far as being successful as a business, that's a pretty large statement but let's just say that no one is losing money on this and I don't see anything negative about this whole project.

I remember in an interview or some Ask Deb feature... someone asked her what she would be doing if she didn't perform and she said that she would be a teacher.

I think that Deborah has always had this as a goal of some sort.  I think Camp EY gives her that opportunity.  I am involved in theatre and know how many of those camps are offered, usually by people who have no business teaching kids about anything.  They are usually expensive and are money pits for hopeful parents.  Camp EY offers legitimate lessons from people who actually work in the business and have a reputation to uphold.  If it was a scam, think about what it could do to these people.  They have a vested interest.

I am sure they make alot of money off the camp but is that a bad thing to want to make money?  I know I wish I had more and I don't feel bad about saying it.  She's not stealing anything from anybody and offering them a valuable service that they might use one day.  Deborah seems to be proactive and proactive people usually rustle other people's tailfeathers.  They are determined and driven.

If I had a child that wanted to be a performer, I would trust Debbie Gibson with my kid.  I think she makes good decisions.  They never seem impulsive and chaotic.  I would like my child to have that discipline.  If he/she wanted to pose nude after becoming famous... I would ask them if they really think it's important and how it would benefit them.  Free will is amazing.  Control of one's self is much better.

Some of you always point to Deb being greedy, shady, or in it for herself/money.  That is wrong on so many levels.  Some of you also mentioned that you question who you are supporting: A drama coach, vocal trainer....whatever was said.  You are supporting someone who is giving back to her community.  She is helping to reconstruct good self esteem.  She is offering young kids wisdom, a positive influence, and information that they won't get from an outsider.  WHat are you doing to give back to yours?  How many kids do you mentor?  There is a school right around the corner from all of you who need mentors.  Education and childhood is in a sad state.  I see hopeless kids everyday because they don't have anyone that will support them or pay them any attention.

Point your fingers at yourselves first before you whine... Think about it before you type it and put your 1 cent in.  Some of them aren't worth 2 cents.

Posted on February 2, 2009 by Bob Merrick
“Mishavonna is a superstar vocalist, musician and a sweetheart and we here at Electric Youth are so proud of her!!! Go get ‘em Mishavonna!!!” -Deborah Gibson

Mishavonna, a Camp Electric Youth alumni from last summer, has  made it to American Idol’s Hollywood week!

The Hollywood rounds start airing this Tuesday… Feb. 3rd, 4th, 10th & 11th on FOX. Please support Mishavonna and watch the show. If she makes it to the Top 36, get ready to vote for her! We will know if she makes the cut when the Feb. 11th show airs!

A note from her mother Natassia - “We all feel so blessed that Mishavonna has gotten this far… it has been a Dream come true! Here is an amazing scripture that we are hanging on too for Mishavonna…

Proverbs 13:12 - Hope deferred makes the heart sick but a dream fulfilled gives life and joy.

Please keep Mishavonna in your prayers. God Bless”
