I must admit that one of my guilty pleasures is watching American Idol and just by looking at the TV ratings every season for that show I see I am not alone. Even though I enjoy watching I have only purchased a few cd's of the people that have been on the show. Carrie Underwood is definitly my favorite out of all of them. I never really liked country music before seeing her on AI. But she changed me. She has a great voice and both of her CD's are very enjoyable to listen too.

This past Sunday I had the great pleasure of seeing her live in concert. The arena where she played opened just two weeks ago. One of the things I did like about the arena was how small it was. I think I read some where it holds 7,500 for a concert. Very intimate for an arena show. Just about any seat is good. You are not far from the stage at all. She is great in an arena show with all the lights, lazers video screen and confetti cannons. But one day I would like to see her in a small venue. I think she would do great in a small venue.

As far as the concert itself Carrie was great. This is the second time I have seen her. First time was back in March with Keith Urban. I ejoyed the whole show Sunday night. Some of my favorite moments from the show were the first five songs. Especially Wasted, All American Girl, and Crazy Dreams. The also had a Video rewind of her career that was also nice to see they showed all the highlights from her career since American Idol. I Ain't in Cehcotah Anymore was also another favorite she performed. One of the songs in the encore was a cover of Paradise City by Guns and Roses and she was really good which surprised me. With all the songs she played Sunday night I don't think there were many more she could have performed. She must have performed about half of the songs from her first cd "Some Hearts" and just about all the songs from the "Carnival Ride" CD

One thing I noticed is that she does not try out new songs. So many of the other singers I have seen live have tried out new songs I wonder why Carrie does not do that. It would have been nice to hear something new from her.

She mentioned that she has been on the road since January. You could certaintly not tell that because she sounded great. Maybe it was just where I was seated but the music seemed to overpower her voice on several occasions which is a shame becasue she has such a beautiful voice.

One thing I have always wondered about live performers is how they keep their performance fresh after being on the road for so long and performing the same songs over and over every night. When I saw her with Keith back in March it was almost the same set of songs minus a few songs because she was the opening act but this time she was the headliner but it was pretty much the same songs.

Well i guess that is about all for now. It was a good way to spend an evening out and it was nice to see my favorite American Idol in concert. I look forward to seeing her again.
