Probably the best video of 1998:

Beastie Boys "Intergalatic"

Some more videos...

Kix "Don't Close Your Eyes"...unlike most power ballads, which are about falling in love or breaking-up, it's about suicide prevention. The video's also quite good and still affective. with the imagery of the actress.

Mary Jane Girls "In My House"... Kinda reminds me of those cheesy 1-900 commercials shown in the night, though still pleasing to watch with the camera angels and the singers looked quite attractive.

Some of my favorites from 1989

Great White "Once Bitten, Twice Shy"

A catchy blues rock song with the band performing at a wherehouse with  models dancing including Bobbie Brown.

Paula Abdul "Coldhearted"

Paula being judged on her dance number... a bit ironic in retrospect. Features great choreograph.

Tom Petty "Free Fallin"
... split images of the 1950's and (then) present day 1989

Motley Crue "Dr. Feelgood"
...typical hair metal video with the band destroying the set and fire

Tone Loc "Funky Col Medina"
... campy video that pretty much goes with the lyrics

Beastie Boys "Hey Ladies"
... a campy homage  to the 70's (though at the time was probably considered 'uncool')

Taylor Dayne "With Every Beat Of My Heart"
...Taylor Dayne, in hot outfits, dancing in an apartment building

Janet Jackson "Miss You Much"
...part of the "Rhythm Nation" short film featuring great choreograph

Aerosmith "Love In An Elevator"

...great visual effects and sight gags (ie mannequins becoming alive)

Presidents of the United States of America "Peaches", which features the band performing near some peach tree and also ends up fighting ninjas towards the end

Didn't air on the marathon

"Prove Your Love" Taylor Dayne, though I like her hair style from 1989/1990 better, she still looked hot

White Lion's "Radar Love"  is on as of now...

Never seen it on tv, though have it on a compilation DVD.

The waitress from the video looked hot.  Cool

Janet Jackson's "Pleasure Principle" video was good.  It's also a very sexy video without being a trashy or blatently sexual video.  Young stars don't seem to understand what that means now.

Bel Biv DeVoe "Poison"

Only have seen it a few times on a countdown show on BET some years ago (again on the recent marathon), but actually a good video (ie models with tight dresses, early '90's dancing) that goes with a great song that still stands the test of time.  Cool

Top 25 Music Videos of 1989 (I've seen)

Not listed:
(though most are often placed in similar "best" lists)

Aerosmith "Janie's Got A Gun", though a serious song/video, far too dark for my taste. Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" is dark, but the video isn't  graphic. Oddly, the alternate version on the DVD only features the band performing.

Madonna "Like A Prayer", catchy song though the video's too overrated and pretty much done for shock value

Metallica "One", The songh's OK, though not actually an 'all time'  favorite (the guitar solo is great), though the video's pretty much scenes of "Johnny Get His Gun" and the band performing.

Milli Vanilli videos, because they're plain awful (I find "Baby Don't Lose My Number" hiliarious)
Cheesy

In no special order since I don't exactly have a personal #1 video for that particular year

25. Cinderella "Gypsy Road"
24  Paula Abdul "It's Just The Way That You Love Me" (second version)
23. White Lion "Radar Love"
22. Debbie Gibson "We Could Be Together"
21. Biz Markie "Just A Friend"
20. LL Cool J "Big Ole Butt"
19. Love & Rockets "So Alive"
18. Paula Abdul "Straight Up"
17. Bobby Brown "Every Little Step"
16. Taylor Dayne "With Every Beat Of My Heart"
15. Motley Crue "Dr. Feelgood"
14. Red Hot Chili Peppers "Higher Ground"
13. Debbie Gibson "Electric Youth"
12. Tone Loc "Funky Cold Medina"
11. Janet Jackson "Rythym Nation"
10. Beastie Boys "Hey Ladies"
9. De La Soul "Me, Myself, & I"
8. Aerosmith "Love In An Elevator"
7. Tom Petty "Free Fallin"
6. Great White "Once Bitten, Twice Shy"
5. Debbie Gibson "Lost In Your Eyes"
4. Young MC "Bust A Move"
3. Janet Jackson "Miss You Much"
2. Paula Abdul "Coldhearted"
1. B-52's "Love Shack"

Other notable videos:

Tom Petty "Runnin' Down A Dream"

It was OK, though some of the concert clips are interrupted by interview bits/commentary. It featured clips of  INXS, Stray Cats, The Clash, Missing Persons,  Oingo Boingo, Divinyls, and Men At Work.

Would've been better it also featured  hard rock/metal bands like Motley Crue & Van Halen, which also were featured in the festival.
