I'm surprised that "Foolish Beat" wasn't on their list because that was a really big song, but at the same time I'm not surprised if you know what I mean.  I mean this is MTV here.

August 6, 1988: "Yo! MTV Raps" made it's debut (hosted by Fab 5 Freddy and Ed Lover & Doctor Dre...not the rapper), which rap was emerging into the mainstream a few years prior with Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and LL Cool J and the genre would later become more popular in the mainstream.  The show was cancelled in 1995.

In 2008, MTV/MTV2 celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the show and recreated the set for occasion with special countdowns and retrospects for the series

That one I did occasionally watch.  The two shows that I watched on MTV were "Remote Control" and "Club MTV."

*, ranked on MTV's list, though "Paradise City" (Guns N' Roses) & "Kiss Me Deadly" were both hits ("Paradise City" would be ranked on 1989's list, which according to Wiki was released on the Fall of '88)

Some good selection and mixture of hard rock, glam, heavy, and more hardcore metal.

Also noticed that "Sweet Child O' Mine" (Guns N' Roses) and nothing from Def Leppard aren't listed since they were probably given lots of rotation on the network.
