Hey everyone, I have started a group on Facebook for fans who think Deborah would be a great guest star on Glee. If we got enough members we might get someone's attention. So if you have a facebook account, be sure and join. Suggest to all your friends too. If you don't have FB, don't worry. There is also a petition you can sign. Just click on one of the links below. Thanks!! Grin

Ironically enough, Deb actually auditioned for "Glee" for "Emma".

Source: NY Post Pop Wrap interview.

Honestly, "Glee" would've been better than bad CGI creature flicks. Though that show is basically a typical teen drama.

On her comment that she's the epitome of "Glee" and would've been on when she was a teenager:

Well, there was "Fame" (though Deb was a tween when the show aired and a kid when the film released) and "Hull High" (Deb was 19/20, though only lasted a few episodes and aired at a bad time since there was the infamous "Cop Rock" fiasco and another teen drama that would become a success. If "Hull High" had lasted a few seasons, she probably would've agreed on a guest role. Ironically, Kenny Ortega worked on the series, which he was to direct Deb's scrapped movie "Skirts")

Good thing she never did "Cop Rock".

She was an extra on "Fame". I know Janet Jackson was on the show for a season until they got rid of her character.

I don't remember ever hearing her mention being an extra on "Fame" before.

I think she might mention it in one of her books or teen mags back in the day.

It would be great to see Deb guest star on Glee but also I would love to see these kids take on her songs....I would not want them to do Electric Youth, but it would be great to see them do something like Only In My Dreams or Lost In Your Eyes.....A great episode would be if one of the kids dreamt it was 1989 and they sang songs from that year and one or two Gibson songs would be a great thing!!

I don't watch "Glee" so I don't know what they said about her.  I guess being mentioned is almost as good as either her or one of her songs being on it.

Googled for the quip from the show

Doesn't mention any reference to "malls", which Deb wrote on Twitter  about the writers confusing her with Tiffany though must've been part of a conversation between several characters.

That's not as funny as it could have been.  But I guess her just being mentioned is something to feel good about considering how high the show's ratings are right now.  Only a loser sends someone hate mail anyway.

Mentioned on Access Hollywood

'Glee’ Confuses Debbie Gibson For Tiffany

Debbie Gibson stops by Access Hollywood live on January 14, 2011

Monday’s “Glee” included an ‘80s teen idol mix-up, a snafu over which Debbie Gibson is maintaining her sense of humor.

Guest star Gwyneth Paltrow, playing substitute teacher Holly Holiday, was speaking to a group of students about making fun of each other when she confused Debbie for fellow pop star Tiffany.

“I spent 3 years sending hate mail to Debbie Gibson until she wrote me back and said, ‘The stress of my letters was giving her alopecia,’ and then I felt terrible cause I realized it was just my jealousy that she could fill a mall with adoring fans,” Gwyneth’s character said.

Access Hollywood checked in with Debbie following the episode, who said she wasn’t surprised that the hit FOX comedy confused her for her mall-loving counterpart.

“Of course I played the clubs and Tiffany played the malls so all these years later they are still confusing us! LOL! But, when it comes to ‘Glee’ and Gwyneth any press is good press!” Debbie told Access in an e-mail message. “Now all we need is a ‘Glee’ ‘Electric Youth’ episode! Right?!?”

The duo, which recently starred together in SyFy’s made-for-TV movie “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,” are hitting the road together this summer.

“That’s why we’re touring together,” she added. “To prove we are indeed different people!”
