from blog: "Exhausted but happy from Orlando"with pics
Hey everybody!
So – I’m sitting having my coffee with 2 shots of espresso added as I am back in LA and still recovering from the 24 hour day that was GAY DAYS!
Did promo in the AM and then soundcheck in front of a mini audience, the boys who were catchin’ rays by the pool, and the show at 1AM! FUN! Happily exhausting : )
I hafta say, I felt a bit “blonde” and off kilter from being over tired so I forgot half my choreography (lol!) But, Buddy, Ray, and Eddie more than made up for that! My voice felt good though and I fed off of the energy of the amaaaazing crowd!
After the show, I signed autographs and – yet again – was truly touched by all of the annecdotes about how my music helped people through difficult times, helped shape their (electric) youth, and experienced a really profound outpouring of love!
I have been doing a top secret recording project (all I can say is, you will have access to my voice on a lot of new recordings this fall! You’ll see!) so, it was a mad dash to go and get costumes for this show so, some fell apart onstage, others were a bit too big after sweating all day (no joke! Funny, right?), and – I put things on in the wrong order (I was s’posed to have a skirt in the Fosse medley) so I ended up a bit more scantily clad than I intended!
But – hey! It’s Gay Days! All fun and festive and caution to the wind (as well as my cheeks to the wind! LOL!)
I can’t thank you all enough for your constant outpouring of love and energy and, a big thank you to my dear friends and dancers Ray “Kabuki” Garcia, Buddy “Bahhhhh” Casimano, and Eddie “My scalp is where?” Bennett for always being such amazing team players!
‘Til next time : )
Oh! And, video to come by next week of behind the scenes and the show itself!
Ok, 4 real….til next time!
