Well, as a teenager she was into metal (
or hard rock, which was pegged "metal" in the '80's), which she have mentioned in old interviews Poison & Guns N' Roses.
I don't listen to heavy metal and mainly selected songs from '80's hard rock and/or "hair metal" bands like Def Leppard, Ratt, Dokken, and Motley Crue.
Plus she sang back-up for the punk group The Circle Jerks for one of their songs in the mid 1990's.
sourceFavored Nations have recently signed up late 80’s chart bothering and Broadway stomping singer songwriter Debbie Gibson for a one of project album of metal covers. Following her pop and Broadway success it is understood Debbie was wanting a new challenge.
The as yet untiltled album is looking like a late Summer release to coincide with a UK Sonisphere appearance and is to be produced by longtime Debbie Gibson fan and Favored nations head honcho Dean Schachtel.
The album is aiming straight for the heart of metal fans with ball crushing versions of Slayer’s “Live Undead”, Pantera’s “Walk” and the W.A.S.P. classic, “Animal (F**K) Like A Beast!”. Favored Nations spokesperson Paolo Fril gushed:
Wait until you hear Debbie’s version of “Strike Of The Beast” from Exodus! Its unbelievable Heavy, Heavy, Heavy Sh#t!!
The album will also feature a bonus track of the Lita Ford/Ozzy Classic “Close My Eyes Forever” featuring none other than Steve Vai on guitar.
