Only one  from Janet Jackson, Cinderella and nothing from "Pretty In Pink" soundtrack, Beastie Boys (well, "Fight For Your Right" was probably given more exposure in 1987)... though wasn't "Home Sweet Home" (Motley Crue) from 1985?

No argument that "Sledgehammer" is #1.

Top 10 Worst Music Videos of 1986 (from what I've seen on tv & YouTube)

10. Wang Chung "Everybody Have Fun Tonight"

Good song, though horrible video and could cause seizures with the fast movement...

9. Lionel Richie "Dancing On The Ceiling"

Despite that there's good special effects (simialar to Fred Astaire's dance routine in "Royal Wedding"), the video is just plain cheesy.

8. Steve Perry "Oh Sherry"

An attempt of self parody since he refuses to film a music video since his band Journey weren't known to have good music videos...

7. Starship "Sara"

Well, not as atrocious as "We Built This City", but still corny

6. Huey Lewis & The News "Hip To Be Square"

Mostly unnessary close-ups of Huey Lewis' mouth...

5. Kenny Loggins "Danger Zone"

Mainly Loggins laying on bed wearing shades...

4. Yello "Oh Yeah"

Good song, though the mind tripping video is best forgotten...

3. Twisted Sister "Leader Of The Pack"

Even by '80's standards the video's cheesy. Not to mention the cover song is just as bad.

2. Don Johnson "Heartbeat"

Confusing storyline and bland singing, which is pretty much a cash-in with Don Johnson's popularity

1. Falco "Rock Me Amadeus"

An annoying ode to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with people dressed  18th century costume, bikers, and corny rapping.

Just got the "MTV Video Music Awards Collection" video tape, which featured 7 videos that have won the 1986 VMAs feauturing brief clips of the winners & presenters and also Video of the Year from the 1985 VMAs.  Cool

Clips: David Lee Roth, Mark Goodman, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson presenting Best Choreography, Downtown Julie Brown, Bobcat Goldthwait (dressed as Prince or Martha Quinn's Worst Nightmare!), Robert Palmer, Pet Shop Boys, Don Henley, a-ha, Belinda Carlisle presenting, and several brief clips of Motley Crue, Martha Quinn, Alan Hunter, to name a few.

Also interesting considering that there's only one "VMA Collection" tape released and from 1986 since there wasn't one for 1985 or 1984. More likely due to rights, though a video from Prince was included since his songs hardly ever appear on compilations.

1 out of 10: 9

Several classic videos & rare clips of the VMAs. Non appeared on the MTV 30 retrospect from several weeks ago.

The selection is decent, though a performance could've been added. Atleast there's another video from a-ha, their second & lesser known hit "The Sun Always Shine On TV".   Grin

Track listing:

1. Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" (Video of the Year & Best Group Video)
2. Tina Turner & Bryan Adams "It's Only Love" (Best Stage Performance in a Video)
3. Prince "Raspberry Beret" (Best Choreography
4. Pet Shop Boys "Opportunities" (Video Vangaurd, for Zbigniew Rybczynski, a Polish director.)
5. Robert Palmer "Addicted To Love" (Best Male Video)
6. Don Henley "The Boys of Summer" (Special: Video of the Year for 1985)
7. a-ha "The Sun Always Shines On TV" (Best Cinetography & Best Editing)
8. a-ha "Take On Me" (6 awards: Best New Artist, Best Experimental Video, Best Direction, Best Concept, Best Special Effects, & Viewers' Choice)

More info on the 1986 VMAs
