As for Nickelodeon jumping:

The 1990's:

"Kids Choice Awards" would have Rosie O'Donnell hosting thoughout the seconf half of the 1990's. (Like, who turned down?)

Also wretched cartoons from Klasky Csupo (ie "Rugrats", "Wild Thornberries") would dominate for some reason...

2000's: too much repetative programming and not much older shows  since execs have the mentality that "kids don't like old stuff"... Same for Cartoon Network.

As for tween sitcoms, which I've noticed in various forums, Nickelodeon had it's share of them in the '90's like "Clarissa Explains It All".

I'll admit that I watched several shows that I now cringe at like "Doug" or find corny like "All That" (though the soundtrack is a good time capsule of mid '90's R&B including the theme from TLC)...  Lips sealed

"Ren & Stimpy" bumper (1991, ran 'til the mid 1990's)

"Ren & Stimpy: What Is A Friend?"

Honestly, it looks older than 1994  since the clips featured are from the first season. Though have seen it in the mid 1990's, which several older animated Nick bumpers were still shown.

Ren & Stimpy hip hop promo, still sounds fresh

Looney Tunes promo (1994)

Looney Tunes on Nick promos from 1988 to the mid 1990's

Back when  bumpers &  intros were creative  Cool I actually remember the commercial from :30!

While Cartoon Network aired Sniffles the Mouse &  mediocre travel log parodies, Nick aired Cool Cat & Daffy vs. Speedy cartoons...along with the far superior cartoons and well known characters

"Rocko's Modern Life" promo

"Rocko's Modern Life", assuming the first promo for the premiere of the newest Nicktoon (1993)

Recently watched it on Nicktoons, which the episode featured Rocko & Heffer goes on a road trip to visit Flem Rock before it demolished. For some reason it's rated "TV Y" despite of the hidden adult innuendo ("Chokey Chicken" restaurant)...

What suprises me is that Dan Povenmire & Jeff "Swampy" Marsh worked on the show and both created the extrememly bland Disney Channel cartoon "Phineas & Ferb"... Shocked Tongue

Though Stephen Hillenburg, creator of "SpongeBob" also worked on "Rocko", which I'll admit that there's a few similarities from the main character having a dimwitted friend and a neighbor that dislikes the main character for some reason.

I thought the best episodes of Rocko was the one where Rocko's car breaks down and Filbert tries in vain to fix it and the one where Heff falls down O Town's Bottomless Pit.

Cartoon Network press release

Two shows I'd probably watch for curiosity:

Quote
PRESS SUMMARY:
The Looney Tunes Show: A new half-hour animated comedy series starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. No longer confined to 7-minute shorts, Bugs and Daffy are out of the woods and living in the suburbs among such colorful neighbors as Yosemite Sam, Granny, Tweety and Sylvester. In addition to each episode’s main story, The Looney Tunes Show also features “cartoons within a cartoon.” The Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzales, Marvin the Martian and other classic characters sing original songs in two-minute music videos called Merrie Melodies and the Road Runner and Coyote are featured in 2-1/2 minute CG shorts. This all new series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Sam Register (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) is the executive producer. Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone (both Duck Dodgers, Back at the Barnyard, Space Jam) are the supervising producers.

It's now official.

Coyote & Road Runner in CGI...just plain wrong.

Looney Tunes characters living in the same neighborhood in the suburbs... don't think so. Not to mention that most of the  characters have  different settings and many would be very out of place in a generic suburban environment.

Bugs & Daffy have been in various places from outer space, wild west, Baghdad, the desert, etc. Also  Bugs lives in a rabbit hole.

Granted that the original cartoons have spoofed classical & jazz and also had great scores, the two minute music videos will fall flat...

Cartoon Network should just air the original cartoons and also on decent time slots. Especially that they've been enjoyed by many generations for over 70 years.

"The Looney Tunes Show" (how original is the title  Roll Eyes ) more likely would be mediocre and more likely forgotten in a few years like other rehashes from the past several decades...

Bugs' design looks hideous. Though Daffy looks good (though a few changes could be made)

Quote
PRESS SUMMARY:
MAD: Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and using the iconic MAD magazine, published by DC Comics, as inspiration, MAD is an animated sketch-comedy series utilizing a chaotic mix of animation styles and twisted humor to pull back the curtain and expose the truth behind movies, TV shows, games, pop culture and, of course, curtains! Classic MAD magazine characters and features such as Alfred E. Neuman and Spy vs. Spy pop up, and no subject matter or individual will be safe from MAD’s barrage of parodies and sketches. In the end, viewers won’t get even, they’ll just get MAD! Sam Register (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) is the executive producer. Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) and Mark Marek (KaBlam! The Andy Milonakis Show) are the producers.

Ironically it'll probably be similar to  "Robot Chicken", which is a stop motion animated sketch series that spoofs pop culture or "Supernews", a flash animated show that also tackles politics & the internet (ie Facebook, Twitter). Though obiviously toned down like the Looney Tunes rehashes.

The different use of animation might make it interesting, though would have to wait n' see... Though pop culture/celebrity satire has pretty much been shoved to the ground on television & film.

Never read the magazine and found the tv show very hit or miss. Ironically several of the cast members from the now defunct sketch comedy series are also voice-over actors like Nicole Sullivan & Phil Lamarr.

It's now official.

Coyote & Road Runner in CGI...just plain wrong.

Looney Tunes characters living in the same neighborhood in the suburbs... don't think so. Not to mention that most of the  characters have  different settings and many would be very out of place in a generic suburban environment.
That just won't work.  I don't know what's so wrong with hand drawn animation?

Deborah appeared on two episodes of "MAD TV."  Both times she was being interviewed on the red carpet and they only lasted about a minute.

cut-outs with one of the animators of the show, found from comments section at Cartoon Brew site

It'll more likely last one or two seasons and fade into obscurity...

I came along about 15 to 20 years after the first Looney Toons cartoons were made and they didn't need to be "updated" to appeal to me.  If something is good it's more or less timeless.

Craig Paulsen, the editor for The Looney Tunes Show, did a radio interview in which he was briefly asked about the series. I had to write out the transcript myself, so it’s a rough one.

"Question: So tell us about your current project right now, The Looney Tunes Show, that you’re editing. How’s that going?

Answer: Great! It’s long hours but it’s fun. I mean, the best thing about editing this show is… just it’s one of those characters that everybody sort of grew up with, whether you came home after school and they were on, or… So you sort of have an obligation to serve it justice. It’s got a bit of… it’s one of the Warner Brothers franchise shows and it’s got a bit of history behind it, and you want to just… this is one of those examples of you want to serve the characters right. You want to make it really as good as… and everybody on the show feels that way. You just want to make it a really great show because it’s been with everybody for years and years and years so you want to try to keep that bar as high as you can. And that’s why we’re all sort of working really hard to make it funny and make it good and make it something that people will then carry on to the next generation. This will be their Looney Tunes."

I remember when "The Smurfs" were first run.  I remember that Jimmy Swaggert tried to lead this crusade to get them off the air because he felt the show was sinful in some way.  Then he got caught trying to solicite a prostitute with a car full of Hustler magazines.
